BAUANG, La Union-The Provincial Information and Tourism Office of the Province of La Union, partnered with the Department of Tourism Regional Office I in the conduct of the Tourism Awareness and Capability Building Seminar for the different tourism stakeholders of the Municipalities of Bauang and Naguilian.

Participants included Municipal Tourism Officers, Barangay Captains, Hotel Establishment owners and staff, Mangrove and Grape Farm Receptionists, the Bauang Tourism Council, Farm Owners, and the Transport Sector.

The seminar focused on the introduction of the participants to the tourism industry and the importance of capacitating frontliners in the municipal and barangay level with excellent quality service. Part of the module included discussion on Sustainable and Ecotourism, Service Excellence and Effective Guest Service, Basic Tourist Reception and Guiding Techniques, presentation of DOT programs, initiatives, and updates, and the Identification of Training Needs of all stakeholders. Activities involved were role plays, sharing of information, video showing, a written exam and different workshop and group activities.

Present during the two-day program were the Provincial Tourism Officer, Mr. Adamor Dagang and facilitators from the Provincial Information and Tourism Office headed by Mr. Art Cortez and Ms. Joy Ann Gurtiza.

Speakers invited from the Department of Tourism Regional Office I for the two-day activity who shared their knowledge and expertise were Mr. Bon Derryl G. Pugal and Ms. Liane Yabut.

DOT Region 1 supports the initiative of the Provincial Information and Tourism Office of La Union in their goal to achieve service excellence in guest service for visitors visiting the Province. The said activity is the second batch of the series of seminars to be conducted by PITO.
